By Annie Delfosse (pink~tomato~revenge)
One evening, I was walking down the sidewalk on a cold, rainy night. I was just trying to think, think, why would someone kill Haylee? She was my only daughter, the only family I had. Most superior of all was the note she left. She knew she was going to be killed. I just had to find something to find out who did it. The only clue she gave me was- Pink Ribbon.
What could 'Pink Ribbon' possibly mean? She always wore them in her hair when she was young. Up until her fourteenth birthday... when she was killed so unexpetedly. My daughter, my only daughter. How could someone kill something so precious? Just tear her life away like that?
I wanted revenge. Figuring the note could help me do that, I retreated home. I walked into Haylee's bedroom and stared at her pink walls that she had begged me to change to purple. That's when I noticed the stench. The awful stench of something rotting. Both curious and bewildered, I followed my nose to Haylee's closet.
When I opened the door, all I saw was Haylee's jewelry box. As I scooped it up, the stench grew stronger. Flinging open the lid, I wrinkled my nose in disgust. Yes, the smell was coming from here. But there was just jewelry. I dumped it onto the bed and saw a little tear in the fabric at the bottom.
When I pulled on the tear, the fabric gave away and I saw a horrible sight- a rotting tomato. It wasn't that horrible to look at, just the smell was almost making my eyes water. Next to the tomato sat a little folded piece of paper... tied with a pink ribbon. My heart beat fast as I opened the piece of paper and read-
"Hey, ugly-face. Want another tomato? No? Too bad, because you couldn't keep your mouth shut. This is just never going to end for you, is it?"
My jaw fell at the last words-
"Mom, this went on for months. I'm sorry, so sorry. They threw tomatoes as me every day. I killed myself. -Haylee"
