For October, there's something a bit different ahead. Something murky ...something dark... scary dark... Let's write some short scary stories but unlike our usual writing prompts, you'll get to see all the prompts for the whole month up front.
Put another way, you could start writing the story for the final week's prompt as early Oct 1st when all of the prompts come out.
Another twist involves attracting more visitors to the Clever Fiction website by targeting the keyword phrase "short scary stories". More visitors to this website will raise it's ranking in the search engines and make it more popular. Popular sites with links back to your own websites and blogs will make your website or blog more popular. And best of all, there will be more readers checking out all of our short stories. If they like what they read here, they just might want to visit our individual author blogs and sites, read more of our delicious works of fiction - and buy them!
- Put the keyword phrase Short Scary Stories (those exact words in that order) onto your website and or blog somewhere. Then link the text to your Clever Fiction story after it's live.
- If short scary stories fits into your story, use it!
If every contributor linked to their story on CleverFiction.com using "short scary stories" as the link text, I believe we could crack page one on Google. Then the really exciting thing would be to see who's story cracks page one first! In case you're interested, I use Long Tail Pro to help me find important keywords to get found online. October's Writing Challenges... We're used to seeing new writing challenges only on Fridays. For the month of October you'll see all four Friday challenges all at once. You can begin writing on any challenge right away - that's the treat. The trick is that the deadlines to submit each weekly story are the same: the following Thursday. Pay attention to those deadlines! You're welcome to write stand alone stories or connect them and make a series.
Something's scratching at the door... I have to go....
