Away I must, Away I trust. . . .
Away and into dawn.
Away I must, if I stay I rust
Away and ever on.
Away I go, away I ride
Into a new sunrise
Away I am, away I've gone
I'm free and have no ties.
Away, afar, again away
A man without a home.
Away , afar again away
What makes the need to roam?
Away from all whom I hold dear,
Away with her, my bride.
The road, the wind, the soaring bird
In nature I can hide.
Away I've gone and travelled on
For weeks and months and years.
I've searched and ran, and ran and searched. . .
Thru wind, rain, sun and tears.
I love the road, sun, wind and men
Whom I have come to know.
And I have always wondered when
And where that I was meant to go.
Away I've gone into the dawn,
Down many a different turn
I've tried some good. . . and some bad too.
It's been a lot to learn.
I oft have thought that in the end.
I'd find a place to settle.
For weary, tired and lonely men
Cannot go on like cattle.
A womans love can hold a man.
Deep within his mind.
He'll move heaven and earth to be with her.
To her his soul he binds.
A woman does not understand
What makes a man to roam.
A woman needs to have her things.
She needs to have a home.
For this to them is same to man.
It feeds the need within.
Instead of chasing all without,
She simply looks within.
And so you see why some men roam
Tis those who never learn
That round the hearth and heart of home
Is that for which they yearn.
Yet now you also may have seen
As in these words you rest,
that there are ladies suited too,
To the life that men love best.
They roam and ride and hold our hearts
Forever in their eyes
Because they understand and know
Without the wind we dye.
So here's to them where ere they are
The women who we hold dear
The ones who've chosen riders and rogues
And love us, far or near.
Away, away, away they ride
A vision to be seen
The bike, the chrome and leather
the roar of the machine
The man, the woman and the road
The sun, the moon, the stars
The music, tattoos and the freaks
And let's not forget the bars!!
Away, away and on. . . away
They two have found the key
At home or afar
When together they are
Then they are truly free.
