I was born into an ordinary indian family, grown up learning the gandhian principles,i was taught to be a non-violent person,i was taught to always help the needy and the deserving,i was made to believe in the divine spirit which lives in all of us, i knew the value of life.My father was a government official;he was a high ranking officer in our city Lucknow.I still remember the days when people used to greet my father with respect while we used to walk with him in public. My father rose from a poor family so he taught me and my younger brother the value of money,we were grown up realizing the importance of money in once life.
I grew up helping others, working hard in my studies,i lived in my own space by never hurting or bothering anyone.I worked hard and got a respectable job in a private company;initially my family was not happy with that as they wanted me to be a government official too like my father but later they were happy as the pay was higher than my abba.Life was normal,it was just so normal until the day i helped, until the day when i cared for someone else, until the day i made my heart beat for someone else.
I was mid december,i was riding on my bike back to home from work when i got a call;i parked and attended the call;it was ammi, she wanted me to get some chicken as she desired to make some kebabs for all of us,abba got home early but was tired;my brother was busy preparing for his exams so i was the last option to go shopping, i changed my route and drove to the nearest kasayi khana, i ordered 1kg of keema, the boy working their asked me to wait for 20 minutes ,so i sat down on the wooden chair and picked up a news paper and started reading it.After a while i heard a soft, delicate voice of a women asking for something,i folded my paper to see her,she was a poor lady, wearing old and torned saree, she was not older than 30,her eyes were red and were so innocent just like a baby, she was skinny, she didn't looked beautiful neither she looked ugly. With a moaning voice she asked for chattan(hindi word for fat and bones left after separating the edible meat).Till date i cannot understand how that much guts came into me;i asked her why you're eating this waste, its not edible. She with a grin on her face, with moist eyes, softly said i cannot afford the edible meat seheb. My children asked me to bring some meat,so this my way of keeping them happy.Hearing all that made chest warm,i literally felt something melting in my chest.I didn't wanted her to be embarresed from me asking her questions,so i turned my face away but i couldn't resist the melonchly i was going through,so i bought a kg of fresh meat for her and gave her;she after refusing several times accepted;i took out my purse for paying mine and hers meat, while i was taking out my money she was staring abnormally at my purse full of 500rs notes. I paid my money, she walked out silently, everyone around me who noticed my greatness were effected, some looked at me with pround for my good deed, some were laughing considering it a foolishness.I walked out with a broad chest and a big smile,i didn't cared about the people who were laughing, i dont care what others think about me,i won't loose my humanity for others.
I did that not to show off but because i really wanted to see her happy, i cannot erase her lifetime misery but atleast i gave her a day worth remembering.I have a scooter to move;she has to walk long distances,i have nice tux;she had atleast a decade old saree, so she deserved happiness more than me.
I was riding back home with a heart full of joy,the road i was riding was a secluded path for others but i chose that as a short cut,i saw a man pointing his thumb for a lift;i slowed down for another good deed for the day but i felt something wrong so i speeded up again but to my shock the man grabbed my coat and pulled me back and started abusing with a monstrous pitch and took out a switch blade and intantly out of no where two more people came, one of them took out my bike's key, they started beating me and where threatning me to take all the money i had and the gold i was wearing,i was shaking and crying with fear, they all had some sharp big knife like things, their faces were covered with some cloth only their eyes were visible, they took my gold chain, ring and braclet, then i heard a strong, cracking women's voice she was holding my hairs she shouted check out for his purse in his trousers right pocket this prince has lot of money in that;to that the man holding my arms took out my wallet and pushed me to the ground;they all ran away. That moment i was not in a state of stability to understand how that women knew about my purse but later i realized how.
I Somehow drove back home with my broken bones ,those bandits took my coat, all money i had even my mobile phone so i couldn't called anyone for help i straight away went home told my abba about the theft,i was frightened after that so abba took me to the police station; i told them everthing happened and went home.
I helped someone and they returned my favour in a very different way,my goodness came back to me in a different shape just like a boomerang, now a days whenever it comes to helping someone i think for a moment and hardly help anyone, life is different now, life teaches us every moment, no matter what happened that night atleast it taught me something and i don't feel ashamed of saying that without helping or caring for anyone i live happily more happier than before.
