I had been driving all night through out the darkness, when I had spotted this beautiful entry into the forest along side the road. I thought this would be a great time to take a walk and stretch my bones; to think about some truths that were never to be mentioned for it would cause division within this wonderful triangle of friends.
As I was walking, picking up loose twigs that represented the death of a season, I came upon three very large, outstanding trees. A strong Redwood, a Ginkgo Biloba and a tall Pine all for which were mature and showed their age. The Redwood dominated over the other two, the Ginkgo very strong with many different layers, at times not knowing which way it would grow, up or down depending on its state of growth. The Pine had many uses to lend to the forest animals.
These three had been growing together for many years and knew and loved one another very much, an taking care of each other with great faith. The Redwood at times would want to over power the other two and not realize, out of it’s wants, that it was destroying the needs of the others. It brought hardship an sadness and caused the others to grow against one another. Their roots would start to entangle, as if the Redwood would stand with it's great power and arrogance.
The Redwood would then realize how it was taking form, and would stop to tend to an care and love the Pine and Ginkgo. The Pine and Ginkgo would certainly forgive the redwood for its doings, but the Ginkgo, not realizing what the Redwood was doing, was perplexed about its character. The Pine wanted to let the Ginkgo know this is how the Red wood acted at times. Although they all grew up together the Ginkgo had not matured nor had the wisdom that the Pine and Redwood did.
Ginkgo and Pine would use their branches to hold on to one another and formed a great relationship between the two; and the Pine was always trying to tend to the Ginkgo and share it's knowledge and love so it would also grow and have great wisdom and understanding. The Redwood was not too pleased with this but at the same time was ashamed by its actions and knew better. But still had to be the over powering one. The Redwood could not help itself, full of stubborn-pride, and always wanted to be the leader no matter how it affected the Ginkgo and Pine.
The three were weathered and trying to find their way through these rough days of harsh living, because of the environment and how the world was acting and what it was turning into. The Pine had been getting tired due to age, and was not as strong as the Redwood and not as young as the Ginkgo. The Pine, trying to protect the Ginkgo and having a lifelong bond with the Redwood and new the Redwood very well it all became a bit too much. So the Pine decided to stand alone and not use its branches to cover the Ginkgo so it could learn. And the Redwood stood high and had some sadness for it was so tall it could not reach us to take hold, for the Redwood’s roots were aching of guilt.
Seasons passed as the Pine stood watching the Ginkgo and Redwood form a rooted relationship, they would try to come to the Pine to get support during times of trouble. But the Pine had no more to give. Between all the animals of the forest using it for their needs and the pride of the others falsely tearing it down with much lack of understanding, the Pine could not lift another branch.
What the Pine missed the most was the closeness of the Redwood and the growing friendship of the Ginkgo.
