March winds chilled Nell as she ran toward her car. Realizing it would take time for the heater to work, Nell pulled her coat tighter to her body. Yesterday had been a warm day for March but the forecast today was a cold rain. Never in her wildest dreams would Nell have envisioned the decision she must make. Even as her heart was breaking, Nell knew what she had to do.
Only two days ago her life had been full and happy, but the accident changed everything. Giving her consent to not keep her husband, Ken, the love of her life, on any kind of support was not what Nell wanted. Dread of the next hour almost caused her to change her mind but she knew there was no going back. Ken’s body was too broken to fix and she had to let him go.
Once Nell reached Ken’s side in ICU the tears nearly blinded her. Reaching for his hand, Nell poured out all her love that would never end, said her final goodbye and left the room.
